APSSB Syllabus 2025 – Complete Subject-wise Breakdown

The Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) has released the official syllabus for the CGL (Combined Graduate Level Examination) on its official website www.apssb.nic.in. APSSB Complete Syllabus

The APSSB CGL Examination comprises of four-sections designed to evaluate a candidate’s overall aptitude and eligibility for the post. The four-sections include General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, and Test of English Language and Comprehension. These sections aim to assess a candidate’s general knowledge, analytical skills, mathematical ability, and English proficiency. A section-wise explanation below for better understanding.

Section-1: General Awareness

50 marks (25 questions of 2 marks each)

Questions in this section will test the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. The questions will be designed to test knowledge of Current Events and of such matter of everyday observation as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to History, Polity, Constitution, Sports, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, Everyday Science, Scientific Research, National/International Organizations/Institutions, etc. State Specific questions may also be asked.

Section-2: General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability

50 marks (25 questions of 2 marks each)

The syllabus of General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability includes questions of both verbal and non- verbal types. Test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

Section-3: Arithmetical & Numerical Ability

50 marks (25 questions of 2 marks each)

The test of Arithmetical and Numerical Abilities will cover Number Systems including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Data Interpretation, Fractions, L.C.M, H.C.F. Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs.

Section-4: Test of English Language and Comprehension

50 marks (25 questions of 2 marks each)

Questions in this component will test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on spotting the error, filling in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/ detecting misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/ passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/ indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage.

Tips to Prepare for APSSB CGL Exam 2025

General Awareness:

  • Stay updated with current affairs through daily newspapers, The Hindu, or local Arunachal Pradesh news portals.
  • Focus on Indian History, Geography, Polity, and recent Government Schemes.
  • Cover important topics like national parks, important dates, and awards. Static GK often appears in exams and is easy to revise.

General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability:

  • Practice questions on analogies, coding-decoding, number series, and logical reasoning.
  • Use apps or books to strengthen fundamentals.

Arithmetical & Numerical Ability

  • Revise basics like percentages, profit & loss, time & work, simple interest etc.
  • Learn shortcut tricks to same time in calculations.
  • Practice with mock tests and previous year papers.
  • Learn to solve word problems into equations. This improves clarity and reduces in understanding the question.

English Language & Comprehension:

  • Focus on grammar topics such as active-passive voice, tenses, articles and sentence correction.
  • Practice summaries to improve sentence formation and clarity.
  • Real articles to improve reading comprehension and vocabulary.
  • Practice 1 or 2 comprehension passage weekly from previous papers to get familiar with the exam pattern.
