Khinsan Wangsu, a rising Taekwondo star from Arunachal Pradesh, has secured her place in the 26-member Indian contingent for the World University Games 2025. The event is scheduled to take place in Germany from July 16 to 27.
Her selection comes as no surprise, given her stellar performance during the national trials held at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar this past February. Wangsu outperformed several top contenders to earn her spot on the national team.
Wangsu’s journey in the sport has been marked by remarkable achievements. She boasts an impressive medal tally from various national championships, including four gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. She notably clinched back to back gold medals at the National Games held in Goa and Uttarakhand.
The Indian team, which includes 26 athletes and six accompanying coaches, departed for Germany on Monday, carrying with them the hopes of the nation. For Wangsu, this is not just an opportunity to compete on an international platform, but also a moment to inspire aspiring athletes from Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast.
Her participation in the World University Games symbolizes both individual excellence and the growing representation of talent from the region on the global stage.
